Driving Tips for Heavy April Showers
Rain on umbrella
You’ve heard it before: April showers bring May flowers. Driving in heavy rain and flooding can be dangerous, so before you take off in that torrential downpour check out some tips on how to safely navigate through heavy rain. If there is a severe weather warning, consider if you’re trip is absolutely essential before leaving. Make sure your windshield and wipers are working well. If you’re caught in a heavy downpour use dipped headlights so other drivers can see you more easily. Do not use rear fog lights, they often mask your brake lights. If you happen to breakdown, stay in the car and call for help. Do not open the hood, the water could cause further electrical problems. If your brakes feel shakey or you start hydroplaning, regain your grip, ease off the accelerator and do not brake until you slow down.
During extreme weather make sure you drive at a slower pace and leave plenty of room between your vehicle and the one ahead. Stay safe on those wet roads and avoid driving in flooded areas at any cost!

Happy National Car Care Month!

April is National Car Care Month! Your vehicle has survived another tough winter, show it some extra attention this season. According to the Car Care Council, last year during nationwide car care inspections 84% failed at least 1 inspection component. Make sure you treat your vehicle to a full inspection. The top failed inspections were low washer fluid, dirty motor oil and low coolant. April is the perfect month to get your vehicle back into shape and to prepare it for upcoming spring and summer travel seasons. Check out the Car Care Council online for personalized schedules and reminders that can help you drive smarter while saving money.
